IS THERE A WRITTEN POLICY FOR WEARING A MOON BOOT IN LABS

Post by DiPerry »

Hi All,

If a teacher or student is wearing a moon boot are they allowed to enter the Lab?

I have been looking at all the WHS platforms.

Thank you for your help

We don't have a specific policy on such a thing but your teachers would need to do a risk assessment. Consider what the students are doing in the lab - is it just theory work or are they doing pracs. Are there risks for someone being there with limited mobility who could cause a student to trip when they have hazardous equipment or chemicals. Does the moonboot provide adequate protection from chemicals or sharp/heavy equipment? etc etc
In NSW, this is for the teachers to sort out not the lab assistant.

Do'nt think there is a policy, but common sense does come into it.
