what weird/quirky things do your teachers ask of you?

Post by Ocean Breeze »

I am sure that we all have a few.
I know I have some of my own
But this morning reminded me of one of my teachers foibles/quirks
He asks me to wash his whiteboard erasers.
That is: take it out of the plastic case, soak and wash it (numerous times to get the ink out), dry it out & reglue it if required, and re-seat in the plastic handle case

This is despite the fact that there are a box of new ones in the schools Stationary store. But he likes his one best

I'd recommend that he wash his own whiteboard erasers. Teachers here know that I am not going to waste time doing things like that for them.

My worst was when one of them handed me her name badge and asked(told) me to fix it.

The are ones with magnetic backs and the metal bar had come adrift of the name badge.
Just needed to have the badge and bar reglued!!!!!

And she couldn't do that herself! :redcard:

Dunno. The best that springs to mind without thinking too hard, was a prac sheet that started off with the evil word "Simply......" Worksheets that use that word almost invariably have nothing simple about them!

ANYWAY...In this case it was "simply prepare a slide from marsupial hairs, and compare it to one made with dog hairs" Oh, OK, sure! :-o However, this IS tourist town, so I went to one of the hug-a-koala places right in town (on the roof of the casino actually) and the great guys there were only too happy to help. I got to hug the koala, and the pseudo-ranger types ran a loop of sticky tape up and down his back.

I have also been asked to jug a recently deceased "blue traveler" tree snake that had only just been run over!

A note from the phsics'computer teacher simply said, " Judith clean mouse balls". The reaction of the economics teacher who found this note in the computer room was priceless! Horror, concern and confusion!
All he wanted was for me was to destick the computer mice. I had done it before and I did it again & again & again until we got a proper computer technician.

Mouse balls.......ok i have large cockroaches round here...they could do with THAT treatment.

I have one teacher who draws me pictures on his prac order form....so i know what equipment he is talking about - but i really don't think he needs to draw test tubes now????

Same teacher calls stethescopes "heartbeats' - took me a while to get used to that one.

This may be slightly off topic (unusual I know) but I had to explain to our young, single male PE/Science teacher why it might be that some of our 12-13yr olds might be unavailable for swimming on any given week! 8O His response was a very impatient "Well, of course I realize that! But none of the bigger girls seem to have a problem with it, just the little ones." :? Sigh. So then I had to explain what options little girls had, compared to bigger, older girls.

See, it's possible for folks to learn something new every day.

You should have seen a look of my acting HOD when asked to sign Order for
bottle of wine,
orange juice
condoms in different sizes, colour and flavour
When he asked what I needed it for I answered wirh a straight face :"having an orgy over weekend".
Off course wine was for distillation, orange juice for determination of vit C and condoms for yr9 reproduction topic.

Condoms should be in every lab assistants cupboard.
They are great for holding water, plaster- art departments sometimes use them to make a plastic shape that students can then carve, they have many many uses!
I mentioned this once to an ex-Army major - and he said to me
'Why do you think they are included in soldiers ration packs? ....ummmmm I must admit to having another idea for their use!
He always carries them in his car , as they can carry quite a large amount of water -useful for collecting water if your radiator leaks, or even for personal drinking water .
so now, off to the chemist - and which type do I buy?

I once had to put in dockets for reimbursement for beer - making beer batteries; and cigarettes - we 'smoked' them to catch the tar, so I had to buy every type on themarket!
The Finance Officer looked at me and said " We are not here to pay for your addictions' - and refused to reimburse me.

When I first started in science some years ago I was sent to get 127 condoms. When I asked the chemist if he had more than was on the shelf, he wanted to know if I was going to have a busy night.
