Re: help please -enzyme prac to demonstrate substrate conc?

I know there are a few different threads on this and I think I've asked the question before but can't find it so maybe I didn't... anyway, just wondering if you use the whole capsicum, or do you take the seeds out? We are doing this again today and I can't remember what I did last year. I will write...

Re: St MARY'S 2012

2 weeks to go and I have my allocation of lectures...yeah. I'm not excited at all. Hi CC, I can't work out if that's sarcasm or not! Are you not happy with the sessions you are in? Did you get any of the ones you wanted? There maybe someone who would be willing to swap one or two with you so you at...

Re: Junket!!

12 tablets = 6g powder so that works out to be ~$4/6g = $100/150g whereas buying it directly is $62.50/150g. I think I will just get the bulk pack.

Thanks for the info :)

Re: Junket!!

Does anyone know if the powder has a use by date? I need to purchase some more and it works out much cheaper long-term to buy the 150g ($62.50 incl postage) bag than the 10g vials (x2 $14.20 incl postage) but there is no use buying it in bulk if it will stop working before we use it up. 20g has last...

Is that the same as Blueo? (or Bluo?) That might explain why we have a bottle of it in a cupboard here! It's in the one cupboard that i haven't touched since my arrival nearly 6 years ago... perhaps they used to do that prac here!

Re: Cheap slinky

For those of you who have bought the Aldi slinkies, here's how I've stored my new class set of 10. The container is from the reject shop ($2 or $3). I am planning to take the tops off the cardboard boxes they came in and contact the remaining 5 sides (and inside) to make them last (or give them a fi...

You will soon meet people! From memory the airport station is pretty much right under the airport so you get off the train and into the lift (or up the stairs) and there you are! Just need to go through security and get to your gate :) Someone else might correct me as it is a while since I have flow...

Re: Electrophoresis

I found for chromatography that our food colours didn't separate too well using the ordinary filter paper method so I made a mixture of all colours and then condensed it down. I guess you could do the same for this - make your own purples, oranges and greens (and black - just put in everything!) and...

I don't really know what this prac is but colouring for chocolates is oil based so should be soluable in oil. I don't know if you can buy it at supermarkets or not. We used to make chocolates a lot as kids :)

so if we don't want to use blood, we use the oxidiser to make a glowing liquid that will impress everyone who comes to watch? Sorry I forgot to mention it's for an open night thing we have happening next week.

Re: Luminol

I see your question wasn't answered, rell! A teacher here wants to play with some luminol (if I can get hold of some in time) and so that's why I'm searching here :) Do the two solutions (luminol and oxidising solution) 'glow' when mixed together, or do you mix them together then spray on a blood sa...

Re: Small Dynamics/Physics carts

Has anyone bought the dynamics carts from westlab? They are $55/pair or $46 if you buy 10 or more pairs. We've just got one pair to look at and they seem ok but just wondering if anyone has had any problems with them or if they have had great success!

Re: Microscope repair / training

We bought our microscopes from AIS and they were prepared to come show a group of us how to clean and maintain our microscopes and didn't charge us. The guy also brought a few microscopes to show us (which worked for him cos our HT then decided to buy a digital microscope). All I did was round up a ...
