Re: Flame Test
Thanks everyone, Yeah wants to relate to solar system, but I've said no, she just wants to do a prac I think. So as a demo only, these kids are still having trouble lighting bunsens. They are never going to understand what, why or how to do the prac., but anyway. Teacher didn't want it referred to t...

Re: Flame Test
I have just had a look through several different Y7 textbooks that we have here and none of them mention flame tests. What Y7 textbook are you using? Even Y7 states of matter practicals don't cover flame tests. If push comes to shove then paddle pop sticks soaked in solutions. Keep the pretty flame...

Flame Test
Hi Brains Trust We normally do flame test with Yr9 +, question is I have a teacher wishing to do with Yr7. Do you do with year 7s? Do you do a simplified version if so what chemicals eg., Sodium Chloride. I can't even see what topic she would be relating too, unless she is jumping ahead to states of...

Re: Scalpels

Not sure what everyone else is finding, we have yr7 kids who can't light a match or use scissors, it's...

Re: Jury duty
I'm so lucky I've been removed from doing jury duty. Country town I've been working at the school for over 26 years so if I don't know the accused the chances of knowing a witness is pretty high. Plus I have a disabled son and my sister in law is the assistant sherif. So what happens if your sick or...

Re: Chemical Sump/Pit
We have sump/pit don't think anyone has ever pumped it out since I've been here 25 years it's connected to the Art rooms. We had the local councils turn up here about 15 years back demanding to inspect them. Someone along the street had disposed of something they shouldn't have down the sewer. When ...

Re: RiskAssess chemical codes
Morning everyone, I have been reading with interest about the conflict between CSIS and RiskAssess. I am of the opinion (not knowing what date CSIS was produced) that Philip Crisp makes his bread and butter from RiskAssess and can't afford to be wrong. Having been one of the people who originally c...

Bigmack it's easy! Like I said I love it. Stick to your guns with time frame for ordering and if they are taught to do it properly from the start it will make it so much easier. Watch the video and should be How to use section as well from memory. If there are any problems I don't sign my section un...

Re: RiskAssess chemical codes
We use Risk Assess and it's up to date, we are a private school and told if we are using then that's what we have to follow, it is designed for Schools. Text books are so out of date by the time they are published or incorrect we have found. Our Teachers were a bit hesitant at first years ago now. T...
