Re: Buying Chemicals
Oh and just had a thought....you could ask the finance people if they are okay with you setting up a limited account with Westlab, only have certain products on there that you can order. So basically they are approving up front the stuff you can get. Then get your other crazy chem's on PO when you n...

Re: Buying Chemicals
With Westlab I think they would be cool to just quote on your own email account. If you build a rapport with them and they know your attached to a school they'll look after you, specially when they see your PO's coming through. Painful not be able to just order on account but that's the way most sch...

Re: First aid kits in prep rooms
Something for people to consider, we have a wall mounted Diphoterine® kit in our Chem Prep room. We do use high concs of some chemicals so it is a must. Expensive...but not as much as what an eye would cost. Can purchase at most lab suppliers. food for thought https://www.prevor.com/app/uploads/site...

Re: Vacuum Pump
Adding to my previous question. The vacuum pump has possibly overheated and doesn't turn on anymore. The fresh oil I had just put in has drained out opaque instead of clear. Any thoughts on what could have caused this? Should I add it to the list of repair jobs (external) or try to buy a new one? I...

Re: LEAD NITRATE
If you get a reaction and change with the more dilute solution...I'd just put it out and not say anything to the teachers in future. If anyone gets agro...just plead the safety line :) Ha - they don't get agro, more just disappointed - kind of like if I'd told them the college has banned cake. :? :...

Re: aluminium potassium sulphate and copper sulphate crystals
We evaporate off us much as we can then out for DG waste... it's a pain and costs but we are short on space so need to keep our DG store clear. Rather pay a few dollars and have our Chem store safe and clutter free.

Sourcing of frozen cane toads
Hi all, I did a quick search of the forum and couldn't come up with anything...so where do you all get your cane toads from for dissection. We have a supplier, but looking for an alternate choice.
