Re: a post I put up yesterday about sheets with coloured discs for the rates of photosynthesis prac........the idea actually came from a local Adelaide labbie in our lab manager's association, Gail from Seaford High, so she's the angel with the nifty idea! :clap3: Anyway, I made up a couple of sheet...

Photosynthesis
Does anyone have an alternative to the rates of photosynthesis prac using hole-punched leaf discs & bicarb solution?
I'd like to try something different....we've been doing the leaf discs for years.
Cheers,
Kiah

Sheesh!!
The most dangerous thing I have to deal with (apart from teachers of course ) is the occasional magpie swooping in summer!
Be careful Estelle.

Hi Lisa, I vaguely remember sending the slideshow, but try asking me what I did last week let alone at the start of the year! :blush2:  :blush2: I'm just happy it's something people can use. I tried to find microbiology resources without much luck, then a few years ago when one class produced...

Hi Pat, here's a very late reply to your 2007 message! I saw your post while looking for an answer to something else.......I put together a doc a few years ago to help the kids identify bacteria by phenotype, by taking photos of plates from one class & labelling the photos. I printed & lamin...

Re: Dishwashers - yes i know it has been done before BUT
We had to submit budget requests or 3 years in a row (patience is a virtue right? :wink2: ) to get money for a dishwasher, but it was worth the wait. We got a Miele Professional G7804 & bought inserts to hold test tubes, flasks, measuring cylinders etc. It wasn't cheap, $7,300 in 2005 + $750 for...

Try the cutting compound used on car paintwork......on a renovation show years ago they used it on a stained & scratched up old stainless steel sink, & it came up beautifully. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I kep meaning to use it on a couple of sinks that have black stains from acids. I...

Re: Instead of Matches.......
Like Rosalie, I have become a control freak over matches. I do it a little differently from her. I actually put about 8 matches in each box. That's generous! :wink2: I put 4 matches in each box. Usually they come back with a couple still in there. I don't know why, but when they got full boxes it w...

Evacuation drills

Uuuumm.......confession time......since my post about the capsicum prac it only just occurred to me that capsicum is not warm blooded & therefore the enzyme function will be just fine at cold temperatures. Massive D'oh!!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum from Adelaide.....Hiya! Last night at a local lab manager's meeting a wonderful labbie told us the URL for Chemtalk & did a demo of the capsicum enzyme prac that she'd found on the site, needless to say there are probably a bunch of Adelaide labbies registering ...
