Vacuum sealer
Hi Fellow Lab Landers, Just wondering has anyone ever tried using a vacuum sealer to keep left over agar plates, and seal up chemicals to stop them absorbing water. :w00t: If so have you had much success? I was thinking of getting one but thought Id see if any bright spark had this idea and tried it...

GHS Pictogram Stickers
Hi Guys, has anyone been able to source the GHS Pictogram Stickers for the chemical bottles, I have run out of oxidizer, MDG etc and am not keen to buy the old ones if the newies will be out soon. Any feedback?

I have two labbies, myself fulltime and another 15 hrs week. You need to look at the post "Lab technicians Standard drafts" it has the formula but it is only a recommendation at the moment not law, but may be useful to quote in negotiations! MariaC

Absolutely Id point the teacher to DPI NSW website to do some reading on Hendra, all us horse owners are to avoid contact with any bodily fluids! Even saliva which is difficult if your horse likes to lick you. MariaC

Yes only alitte acid in distilled water, then rinse thoroughly with distilled water and allow to dry before storing away MariaC

My last lot came out a funny grey/pink, I thought I may of airated in too much by using a whisk so made a second lot using a stirring rod and it came out the same colour but they both still worked fine so dont worry too much MariaC

Hi, from my understanding true nutrient agar is for growing bacteria, agar made with vegemite etc is more for mould growth as its not specific enough. That doesnt mean to say you cant grow bacteria in it! :w00t: but if you are doing senior bio and growing specific bacteria you are best to use NA :th...

:D Not all pH meters require calibrtion everytime they are used, many esp those for data loggers are best left alone and many of the newer ones come factory set. If you do have to calibrate, do over a range eg pH 4, 7 & 10 and you can check periodically or before they are used that they are corr...
