Re: Algal Balls

Hey how strange I made some of these yesterday. Provided you have all the stuff they are really easy to make. We have a fish pond out the back so we didn't have to buy an algae culture, just collected some green water, let it settle. Syphoned the algae from the bottom and made them up according to t...

I have tubs/trays that I fill with equipment. Depending on the prac and how much equipment is required the teacher will get a t...

Is the idea for the student to figure it out themselves ? It doesn't use up all of the equipment and i don't even know if it would work. anywa...

Re: Portable Fume hood

This topic came up in an email thread in the Laboratory Managers association South Australian but it was put forward as a replacement for a prep area fume hood. I would do some in depth research into them and how they operate and what chemicals you will be using in it before purchasing. The general ...

Re: Ammonium Iron Sulphate

It's used for the Mohr's Salt titration in year 12. well at least that's what we use it for. Ammonium Ferrous Sulfate (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2.6H2O. We have Ammonium Ferric Sulfate as well but it's on my list for disposal. The container we have is really old and hasn't been asked for for in the time I've been...

Re: Radioactive Rocks

https://www.arpansa.gov.au/sites/default/files/legacy/pubs/rps/rps18.pdf I don't know if this link will help. It has lots of info about safe use, storage and disposal of radiation sources in an education setting. Its an large, older document and I don't know if it has been superseded but contains lo...
