Re: MLD Boards
Hi J wondering if yours are wall mounted in science ? Of the 44 we got , only 8 were allowed to be wall mounted .Luckily science got 5 of them. I don't understand the thinking . Those stands are worth $2000 . The wall mount brackets we have in science wouldn't have cost $75 and it took two blokes a...

Re: water bath
Hi all, I need to purchase a water bath. There's one that all the suppliers seem to sell that needs a hotplate to operate, are there any that operate independently? What are your suggestions for a good but reasonably priced unit? Under or around $1000.00? Thanks Helen. What size are you a...

Re: BYO lab coats?
Hi Rosalie, we have lab coats as part of the school uniform. We do have a stash of 'lost property' ones that we keep in our office and hand them out to students when they forget theirs on the day. With Covid though we have launder between each use (thankfully we have a washing machine). To discourag...

RiskAssess for Food Tech now available
This just came through....... was not sure where I should have put it. We have built and designed this new version of RiskAssess in collaboration with Food Tech assistants and teachers. It provides a customised risk assessment template and includes over 1,000 food items and more than 600 items of ki...

Re: Hazardous Chemical Register
I have 2 additional columns on mine, we have added for ease of auditing and process improvement initiatives. 1. Risk assessment (High/Medium/Low) - We risk Assess every chemical before it arrives on site and I am going through slowly over time doing what was here. Happy to share my RA document if yo...

Re: Dehumidifier for Chemstore
mmm sounds like you need to be talking to a ventilation person. Is there someone who does your school system? sounds like a lot of moisture you need to move. That might be a good place to start. I am no expert, however I did make mods to a chemstore in Africa (different rules there), we just belted ...

Re: plastic book bottles
Hi everyone, At my old school (10+ years ago) I set up the prep room to have 1M and 0.1M solutions of the most common chemicals stored in these and then a class set of droppers (so I wasn't making up 100-200ml at a time. Does anyone know where I would be able to get some for my current school? From...

Re: Chemical store Room
I also had issues with a Chemstore inherited with a lot of 'stuff' that was not needed. It took me 2 years to get it cleaned out and slowly using school dollars. My first year I had a $2000 waste disposal bill. I hated it and there was noting I could do about it. It will NEVER get to that point agai...

As echoed above. Our register has DG class on it, no GHS. All chemicals MUST be stored by DG class.

If possible, get the teachers to stop using Cobalt.... possible carcinogen. i ams ure they can find other chemicals to use. I basically just discarded all from the school and then said, Oh sorry we don't stock that anymore.

We also get "the same as last year" response from our cleaners and canteen (we don't have food tech). I have done the spot checks...and yep, it's all the same :) . I just keep a eye on their SDS's and print off updated versions if they are expired or something changes. Like above they alwa...

Re: bell jar hose
Thanks KassH and Anna Z, I ended up looking up on the suppliers website to see if there was an adapter or specific hose I should have purchased. It turns out the pump is supposed to come with 2 hoses... so now I am working on getting the hoses that didn't come with it. This is the first time we've ...
