Re: Ordering for Practical Lessons
I think it probably depends on the size of your school... but I just treat it as another week. I try to get all the essentials done before the holidays and the rest waits till I get back. Chemicals away, washing up done (or at least rinsed) but equipment that doesn't get put away in time just gets l...

Re: Enjoy your break from work
Thanks Labbie. It has been very quiet on here this week! Most states must already be on holidays. I know Qld is but I haven't looked up anywhere else. NSW likes to get as many public holidays in the school holidays as possible! "2 weeks off" but actually only 7 workdays off. It's such a sc...

Re: 360 Survey
It turns out my work has blocked a heap of emails without me knowing. I have now solved the problem! Not just sending to spam/junk, but not actually reaching my email account at all. Bastards That’ll teach them . You could have saved them heaps :D I know!! I didn't get to use my discount on my late...

Re: Do you get relief?
I'm in a small private school. Back in 2022 I had a lot of time off due to a variety of illnesses ripping through the family (because, you know, all 5 of us couldn't possibly catch anything at the same time!). They looked into hiring a casual then but nothing came of it. At a different school, I too...

Re: Bones
This is seriously one of the best threads ever!!! I have lots of bones. But no human remains. Well now that you mention it, before I worked in schools, I was in a lab that had a lot of bones. I would also routinely be putting them in acid  And this is all perfectly legal. Provided, of cour...

Re: Stopwatches
I only buy the "Stopwatch, Technos, TM104, digital" (I got mine from Haines but other places might sell them). They are virtually unbreakable, easy to use, come with a case, take a AA battery that is easy to change, and if kids set the alarms they are easy to turn off again. Thanks for the...

Re: 360 Survey
I don't think I got the actual email. I redid the survey this morning and had a notice after submitting that I would get the email soon and I think that is what I'm remembering from before. I didn't get the email today either. It's a bit weird...

360 Survey
Did anyone click the link to do the survey to get the giftcard from Westlab? I did it a few weeks ago and I'm sure I got an email with details on how to claim the discount. Do you think I can find it now??? If you've done it and still have the email, can you please let me know what I need to search ...

Re: Bones
Apparently there were a lot brought out in from India in the 60s? Could you imagine the uproar that would receive now! LabbieSeth it would be worth asking someone to come and have a look for you. Depending on where you are, that could be police from a forensic unit or academics from a university. I'...

Re: data logger probe storage
Any advances on data logger storage? I just searched for ideas on here and found my original query from 2008 :cheesy: I don't remember what we ended up doing with our probes back then. I think I ended up with a kazillion containers that were quite cumbersome. The current school I am at is still buil...

Re: Excel question
Yeah it makes sense. I do my reconciliation online (my card is CBA but it's a completely different system where I do the reconciliation) so I can just check there and work it out.

Re: Excel question
Do you do your own credit card reconciliation? I usually can see what's remaining by looking at that. I will see if I can come up with something that will help you in your spreadsheet though.

Bones
Hi everyone, There's been some interesting discussion on the ASET email about bones in science, if they are replica or real, and what to do with them if they are found to be human. I know a lot of labbies search here for info so I'm going to put it here in case it comes up in the future for anyone. ...

Re: Red Cabbage indicator
. I think I've made one cabbage last 4 years so far! Come to think about it , your Cabbage lasted longer than most school freezers do :cheesy: :cheesy: funny you should say that - I have replaced the freezer in that time!! hahaha :cheesy: But it was a VERY old appliance - fridge on one side, freeze...

Re: Red Cabbage indicator
Yes we are a small school so don't need a huge amount of cabbage. I just cut a cabbage into the approximate sizes I'll need and wrap in glad wrap and freeze. Then I just get out what I need. If we have an unusually big class one year I will just get 2 out. I think I've made one cabbage last 4 years...
