Hi Rob, I used iodine crystals and they dissolved fine, though it was running out so we ordered some more this type didn't dissolve very well , it was tiny beads (not crystals) so for the remainder I finished off the iodine crystals. Heating method is the best =D> . When connecting the CRO (cathode ray oscilloscope) the connecter that runs from the CRO is coaxial so the Earth wire runs in the middle (usually black) and the positve wire runs on the outside (red) and thats why is has two connections on the other end. One which usually is a probe that gets clipped...
