Re: Risk Assess

Another Risk Assess question . Is it possible for me to change the sign off ? Seems quite regularly that the teacher mistakenly signs the Lab tech signature instead of the Teacher . I can pretend and sign off as the teacher ....just to get the two signatures there . But is there another way other t...

Re: Best pulleys

Forgot to add . I’m pleased we bought 20 singles . That allows 10 groups doing a single pulley and then a double pulley ( block and tackle) using two singles . That takes about as much time and effort a teacher can spare . A few clever kids figured out the simple block and tackle and asked for more ...

Re: Best pulleys

We've pretty much finished the Year 7 levers and Pulleys module and these all metal pulleys seem to be a winner with the teachers and none damaged so far [-o< The only whine so far has been that some kids had trouble keeping the string in the groove .....but I suspect that is more to do with hand ey...

Re: RiskAssess Labels

Had a look but we are out of labels so couldn’t try .( Now days I just print on plain paper and guillotine then sellotape as I find mist labels are only temporary) But it brings back bad memories of this at my old school . Racking my brains . On one occasion , we sourced labels from a different supp...

I like that too Matt. Reducing the wiggle .Love Glue heatshrink , it really supports the wire , but man it’s expensive .
Will be giving this a try .

Re: Risk Assess

I generally just do "author update" but don't change anything and then save it and sign the lab assistant section and email them to ask them to sign it again. It happens pretty rarely now. You can either email them the link directly or just send them a message. That worked a treat Rosalie...

Re: storage of corrosives

I would err on the side of caution and place both of them on the ground. Mainly because of the headache it would cause if an auditor came in and told you to move it when the cabinet was full "No worries mate , grab the other end and we'll do it right now" Seriously though , I prefer not t...

Re: Temporary chemical storage during renovation

The Chemical store room at my old school was relatively new ( build well after CSIS came out ) only had a flammables cabinet in it . Everything else was stored in DG groups . Sure it had an extractor fan in it , but that only ran when you opened the door and turned the light on . So I would think th...

Re: Fumehood Gas problems

Wow that's a really inefficient system. So if a teacher is using the gas in the next room and doesn't realise you're also using gas in the fume hood they could accidentally cut you off? Yup ,dumb , and I think that is exactly what happened on the day I was using it and realised after a few hours it...

Re: Fumehood Gas problems

Gas man come around . Climbed around in the roof and informed us that the adjacent Labs master gas shut-off cock needs to be on as well as the one next to the Fume hood . Well don't we feel like fools . :console: It now explains why it randomly worked and then stopped . Teacher was turning on the Ga...

Well I reported mine as still Nogo .The Works fella come around and after talking to the fume hood folk , started checking things and it seems there is no gas coming into the Gas shut off cock from outside . We are scratching our heads wondering how this main gas line which comes straight from the b...

Re: Nails made of iron?

Worth remembering labbies Iron 11 Sulfate once made up does start to go to Iron111. PUT A NEW IRON NAIL IN THE SOLUTION, lAST'S ABOUT 2 DAYS THEN. Funny you just mentioned that Labbie . I've read that here a few times, so a few weeks ago , I had to make some up so I thought I'd try the nail trick ....
