Re: chemical register

I'm pretty sure I got my idea off Anna .
using excel .
Setup conditional Formatting on the SDS date cells .
I've got mine so they are green if in date , orange if a month off expiring and red if over 5 years old .
It was years ago I set this up and I've forgotten how I did it but this should help ...

Re: Is this Cornflour ?

finding a bulk supplier/catering supply company near you!

Funny you mentioned that . I tried our local wholesaler that the school has account with and they were actually a few cents more per kg for a bulk amount than buying it in 500g bags from Woollies.

Although then I'd probably be the ...

Re: same chemical - different sds

If it's any consolation , I was having similar issues yesterday with Lipase .

Anyway ,it is interesting that if you look up a variety of SDS's for Aluminum potassium Sulphate , they mostly all say it is non hazardous with no GHS .
The couple that do , use Chemwatch SDS's .And I saw one Chemwatch ...

You're too kind doing it for everyone else too. It feels like it's the reality of the situation but I find a lot of schools don't give the cleaners/gardeners etc. the training and resources they need to do the chemical management side of their job properly. I think the only time ours even have ...

Re: storage of corrosives

Sounds like NSW DOE chemstore . We had that at Macksville high . The Cement shelves were only big enough for the Acids . A few Winchesters of the concentrates and a few bottles of say 5-10mol/L dilutions of each .
The Bases were in wooden ( lacquered Chipboard shelves) next to it in plastic trays ...

Re: Ordering for Practical Lessons

I hated it at first , but I like it now .I like the “prepared” box . It lets both me and the teachers know if it’s ready . I hated having to do the signing of the RA on every prac . But I guess it is a second chance to double check .
Our teachers tend to all copy the same pracs ( so they don’t have ...

Re: Disposal of damaged lithium batteries

If it were me , I'd put it in a metal tin (think old paint tin or milo tin ) full of dry sand sand so the battery is surrounded in sand . Dry sand will contain a Thermite reaction .Metal container will have a bit more "give " than a glass jar should something go bang .

Re: LPG Bunsen Burners

I've got a heap of old bunsens that are either Old CNG ones or had the jets so reamed out over the years that they keep blowing the flame out on a blue flame .So want to replace them .
I remember hearing Labby's winging about the quality of modern Bunsens so I was wondering if anyone has bought any ...

21/sheet is my preference for 60-90ml droppers.
24/sheet for the 30ml droppers .

I used to buy sheets of stickers but now I just print straight on Plain A4 paper and stick them on with a strip of sellotape each side .
I just replace them every so often when they start to look tatty.

Injet ink ...

I also find ...
