We did this for a number of years, until we had one student who said it made her feel unwell and nauseous, got a huge complaint letter from the parent, never done again.

This is specifically for an IEC Constant Volume Thermometer, it would be teacher use only, demo and we already have a spill kit for mercury.

Re: New CSIS is finally here.
Anna Z I have bound print outs of the most commons used chemicals in the classroom, in mini SDS form in each lab for reference during pracs, saves repeated printing out. They may not be recognised but they are the most user friendly option IMO. I have full SDS stored in chem prep area and on my lapt...

Re: microscope recomendations
After years of buying cheaper ones from Serrata/ MTA and having cheap plastic parts that disintegrate when used, specifically the fuse holder, and difficulty with replacement lamps that are built in, I have now been buying Motic, much more expensive but the quality is obvious and much better service...

This is tricky, because you dont have a blank to start with, Id just label it 1M and make up another batch of 2M, much easier process! MariaQ

Making Electro magnets
Hi Peeps,
Just wondering do most of your teachers want the students to make their own electro magnets with insulated copper wire? Just seems such a waste to me making new coils every year what does everyone else do?

Totally agree with you Merilyn1, we have a duty of care, if we know there is more up to date information than CSIS it should be used, who would blindly follow a document that is so out of date.....MariaQ
