Photographic Chemicals
Good morning, I have a very random question..... An art teacher here has brought me a box of photographic dyes, she is trying to find out the chemical composition of said bottles of dyes etc in the box to decide whether it is safe to use. The brand is COLORVIR. I have googled it but can't find any d...

Re: Cleaning retort clamps
Hi Merilyn,
I'm actually not worrying too much about the clamps. They have pulled a motor out of a vacuum cleaner and were trying to get it to operate, the clamps were holding the small motor. Probably not quite what they were designed for...

Re: Cleaning retort clamps
That is an odd request, Helen! God, next they'll want you to clean the tripods :yuck: :giggle: I guess try to work out what's on them and why they want them cleaned. Maybe just detergent and a cloth/scourer/brush. But as Rosalie says, make sure they dry quickly. Merilyn, I know right?!! :cheesy: :c...

Perhaps an odd question.....I've been asked to clean up our retort clamps, boss heads etc.
What would anyone suggest to soak or wash them in??
TIA

Re: Microwave Demonstration Equipment
I'm guessing you are talking about metal plates, grills etc They can just go into scrap metal bin if you have one . If you also have the Wax prisms and lenses, can't see any issue with putting in general waste. As far as the transmitter/ receivers go , it's just e-waste . yes bigmack, that's whats ...

Swan neck tubes
Hi all,
To begin with....I'm pretty hopeless at glass bending!
Do you all make your own swan neck tubes or do you purchase them?
I've done a bit of a search and can't find them at any suppliers.....I'm a DOE school.
Thanks
Helen

Iron III Nitrate
Hi all,
Do I need to make up Iron III Nitrate fresh?
The prac is called "reversible and irreversible reactions", being used with Cobalt Chloride, Potassium Thiocyanate, Mg ribbon, steel wool.
I have some stock solution made up, but who knows when it was made!!
Thanks
Helen

Re: Aluminium Chloride
Oh Helen - I just looked it up on Riskassess. That is nasty. Check on the SDS but you should be really well kitted out to handle it, including a respirator. Unless someone has some more specific information, I would get the PPE on and transfer it all to a larger, sealed container. Label it and arra...
