I use a hand drill to remove blockages in our taps. Works a treat for getting out blutack, erasers, balled up paper etc. Anything else I call the maintenance man in.

Hi Judy,
This is the first I've heard about it, which I suppose isn't surprising, but it explains why I haven't been able to get on. Oh well, will try and follow sunray's trail and see how it goes. Thanks for the information.

Morning everyone!
I am wondering if you can't hook up to a hospital or the linen sevice the hospital uses for cleaning lab coats. I suppose it would all come down to costs as well. Anyway, just a thought,

Re: marking glassware
Hi! When I first started here all the labs had their own marked glassware. I finally ended that practise when I found I was spending too much time chasing up which lab bench in the labs was missing the equipment that would inevitably end up in the prep room. Much easier for me now to maintain glassw...

They say a frozen leg of lamb is the perfect murder weapon... Hit the victim over the head with it, then defrost, cook and eat the lamb. Voila! no evidence!

Hi! One of the student teachers we have had here last year, recommended "PBS" solution. She works part time in the Animal and vetinary science department at the Uni here. I haven't tried it myself but if you google "PBS" you come up with recipes for this. She said it's like a sal...

Re: Sulfur or sulphur?
It started some thing like.. " I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant plucker's son. " and the trick was to say it three times really quickly. It would end up with "fff" and the "pl" sounds being reversed.... (Don't mind me, I have a terrible off beat sense of humor...

Hi! For Junior classes we use kitchen scales from Big W Living Essentials range. They have a graduation of 1g and weigh up to 2kg. They cost approximately $22 each two years ago. We have one precision balance for our senior classes and myself. Having only one precision balance can create a bit of a ...

Re: test and tag OHS
Hey Macca! My boss got me to research this and the best I could find was a big loop hole that says everything needs to be test tagged but essentially it is up to you to show you have this under control ie it expresses no time limit. Regrettably I haven't got the actually quote on hand (miscellaneous...
