Re: Plastic trays
I bought a bunch of the photography trays a couple of years ago. Unfortunately they differ in size from the old grey ones. However the colours are pretty and I can use the colours intentionally to differentiate different groups. They seem to be lasting well although I doubt they will last as long as...

High Voltage power supply Risk Assessment
Hi all We have one high voltage power supply which is used by teachers only. After an incident a couple of weeks ago, when the teacher forgot to turn it off before removing the leads and consequently suffering a shock, (he puts it down to tiredness as he has young kids who were unwell) we now are re...

Re: Cleaning Glassware Fast!
Its not just the excessive number of test tubes, but also the amount of horrible chemicals that you then have to dispose of. Are they doing the experiment individually, or with partners?

pipette racks to give away
Hi
Is anyone interested in these pipette racks we no longer want? I think they come apart so could be posted.

Rubens Tube
Good morning
We are hoping to purchase a Rubens Tube but I am having trouble sourcing them. Has anyone purchased one recently and if so, where did you get it from?
Thanks
Kathryn

Re: Do you use a diary?
I use one but I guess I'm a bit old fashioned and I like to be able to easily see the day/week/month. (I still use a paper calendar for personal use). I use an everyday diary which works fine.

storage of pH meters
Good morning How do you store your pH meters? Currently I have them sitting upright in their little bottles of storage solution in a bigger container. I have just found one in the container but not inside it's bottle of storage solution  Wanting to look at other ways to store them so that is mo...

I'd be reluctant to have bromine around - bromine water is horrible enough.

Has anyone bought micropipettes recently? If so, where did you buy them from, what brand, are they good?
Thanks in advance

Re: Chemicals not sold by Westlab or other common suppliers
Think I would be giving the teacher a list of chemicals that you actually have - only buy new things in if they are going to be used regularly.

trundle wheel
Has anyone bought a trundle wheel recently? If so are you happy with it? We bought 2 a year ago. When I got them out to use recently I discovered both of them have lost the clicking mechanisms. No idea where or when - no doubt down on the field somewhere, and not reported at the time.

Is this the one you bought? Is it easy to undo to store flat?

Re: Flame Test
We do flame test (paddle pop method) for the Yr 7 orientation. They have a bunch of older students in the class with them. They do 4 mystery chemicals which they have to work out what they are. We find it a great but simple prac to get them excited about doing science the next year.
