Re: Chemffx Labels

Wow, I also am impressed! I have done the school calendar up to end of 2014, the Isolation Room booklets for all four terms next year, the Student Handbook for 2012, helped just a little with the School magazine, help SAM with CEPS and writing cheques; all in my spare time of which I have very littl...

Re: Annual Chemical Stock Take

Hi Rosalie, The sodium sticks are just the way the sodium was here when I arrived: kind of long thick stilvery sticks under paraffin in a large, long tin with sealable lid. I always just called them sodium sticks because to me, sodium is salt that you put on your chips!! Glad people are finding the ...

Re: Annual Chemical Stock Take

Sorry, was disturbed and had to disconnect... I usually have a stocklist printed and left in my Chem Store, one in my desk drawer, and another on a shelf in my "everyday" chemical cupboard. Whenever I use the last of a particular chemical I mark it off the list so when I get to a computer ...

Re: Annual Chemical Stock Take

Hi Rae, I refer to your question way back in May 2011 - sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. Smaller containers of chemicals I can take to the local tip, and just put them in the correct chemical section (they have areas marked for Oxidising, Toxic, etc). So I can do that, or usually I see if I c...

Just to update anyone who may be interested - all the items have been "dispersed". Nothing available anymore.

Sorry about that.

Re: What next

I have spoken to HT about the electrical needs, but nobody here seems worried. They all have absolute faith in the contractors from the DET!! No. 1 - I don't want the lift; I don't want it blocking ALL the sunshine and natural light into our Staff room; I don't want to lose half my store room, and I...

Our Science block (6 Labs, 4 Prep rooms, 1 staff room, and 3 store rooms, plus Chem store) has been unable to get air-conditioning due to the fact the electrical system is not powerful enough to support it (so I have been told). In fact, we can no longer have any new lights because the connections a...

Small Dynamics/Physics carts

Some years ago we purchased some small, blue plastic dynamics carts, with grey metal wheels. They were only cheap, but very good (says my teaching staff). However, I have no idea where I bought them from - does anyone have any to sell / give away / or know where I can purchase more? They are NOT the...

Re: Naphthalene black

Oh well, must be me. I discreetly dispose of anything not used in 4 years, and nobody ever seems to request it again. I also delete it from my stocklists and remove any MSDS sheets I had. However, we have a new HT who "apparently" likes the less is more idea. I am quietly hopeful some time...

Re: Naphthalene black

Just curious, if the product hasn't been used in the 18 years you have been working there, why do you still have it??? I don't mean to sound rude, but why would you keep something that hasn't been requested in all that time?

Re: Annual Chemical Stock Take

I'm with Sunray18 - I do my stocktake every year (just for Science, not the entire school). I also have it on my computer on a spreadsheet. Nobody has ever (in 13 years) asked to see it, checked it, wanted to see or check it; nor has anyone ever asked how, why or when I do the stocktake. Never, ever...
