Re: prepared slides
Canada Balsam was the mounting media used a long time ago (a bit like tree sap or rosin).
It was replaced with DPX, the current mounting media, as it went brown with age.

Re: Dish Washers?
Specifically look out for ones with spikes rather than loops to hold bottles, test tubes etc. Also see if the spike racks are removable so that larger objects can be accommodated. The trays should also be removable to assist in cleaning, and it should work without the top tray/rack to hold larger ob...

Re: Normal solution (N)
Normality = molarity x No of H ions (for acids)
eg H2So4 18M = 36N
H3PO4 15M = 44N ?
from the table in the Ajax chemical reference book.

Re: Alpha Particle Spark Counter
Hi Rhonda, I don't know this model directly but I have seen a detector head. The detector must be open to the air. The voltage should be adjusted to the point where sparking just stops. Take care as the unit must use an internal voltage step up system. The voltage will typically be around 1000V per ...

Re: CLass 9 Help needed??
Hi Sue According to WA regs assuming you refer to class 9 not group 9 they are defined as miscellaneous dangerous goods eg copper sulphate, zinc sulphate, and must have a corresponding diamond. They may be stored with other inert chemicals. See also http://www.intranet.mdhs.unimelb.edu.au/__data/ass...
