cleaning microscope objectives

A large number of our old senior microscopes have a brown translucent coating over the 40x objectives which I can not : remove . Does anyone have suggestions other than windex or ethanol or is it possible to buy only the objectives to replace them ? :-?

Lamp came on but no change in water te...
