Hi everyone! Welcome to the new school year :D I need your help! At my high school our student numbers have increased + I have 17 senior classes this year (we have NEVER had that many!!) I need to discuss with my Principal about getting help, but I would like to do some comparisons between other DET...

RiskAssess chemical codes
Hi fellow labbies, We use RiskAssess at our school and have noticed the chemical user codes RiskAssess uses are sometimes different to the DET user codes (I have only noticed a few and I haven't gone through every chemical as yet). For example...they deem sodium tetraborate (borax) as teacher only (...

Re: URGENT request for help!
Oh...one more issue came up in today's faculty meeting because one of my teachers (actually a supportive one!) passed on to the science staff that there is to be NO pracs during the last week of Term 4. The current acting HT (who has only been at this school for 2 terms) said "No...she is not g...

URGENT request for help!
Hi everyone. I work at a public High School and my school has almost 1200 students and 11 science teachers. I started at my school 2.5 years ago. My HT very rarely puts in orders (he feels he is far too busy to waste time ordering stuff when he can just grab it himself), even though he is the senior...

Re: AUDIT
I know some school use to do every thing, made up HCL or iodine, that is classed as Consumable materials, like dish washing liquid. You only need to do the STOCK, that has not been opened yet. Merilyn1 put that all so well. Hi Labbie, I just read this old thread and wanted to clarify. So we only ne...

Please see just a winge, I have put up the PSA meeting 23/10/14 it is just awful. I just read what you put up, Sue. I don't like it at all :-( I worked in the banking industry prior to this role and I hated having 6 monthly appraisals done. If we have to do that, it won't be fun at all :boring:

Re: Labbie Hours v's Number of Students
Thank you so much for letting me know about the 2013 Guideline, Kerry!! This will be great ammunition to take to to my SAM and principal  I have worked out that based on those standards (service factor being 0.85) I am sitting at 0.19 and that doesn't include all the extra stuff I have to d...

Re: Labbie Hours v's Number of Students
I know, Sue...it's pretty bad that they decide, especially if you don't get on with the SAM :( Like I mentioned above, my SAM gives herself the extra hours we have been allocated. Must be nice when you're the one in charge? I know it must be hard as a SAM to please everyone, but they have to remembe...

Re: Labbie Hours v's Number of Students
Thanks guys!! Some of us are REALLY overworked by the sounds of it. My teachers are terrible at cleaning up after themselves and don't even get the kids to rinse beakers and return to the cupboards in the labs for basic stuff like dissolving salt. I am currently in 'training' with them, but looks li...

But is that right you only work 32.5 hours a fortnight? Or do you mean a week?

I love this idea though..."On the bright side i am taking bribes for late orders ( wine and chocolates) on the side" I might just design a poster advertising it right now!

Yr 7 - 10 Practical Assessments
Hi everyone, I have just moved to a new school and the Yr 7 - 10 practical assessments they do here are terrible!! My staff have been doing them for years and years and no-one can be bothered changing or updating them. For example, Yr 8 hold a lit match in tongs at various angles and then time how l...

You mentioned the CD from Chemwatch. Do you know where I can buy that from?
Thanks!
