The order was in my name with the school address and the HT's details/license and there was no question raised. Have recently placed an order with AIM Scientific (South Australia) and didn't need to complet...

Re: Food technology ordering program

We use OneNote for the orders. The teacher has her timetable set up and then types what pracs she wants in the period she wants. I access this everyday. I also have tabs set up for prac costs and quantities. Like Merilyn, I convert cups to grams or tablespoons to cups and also keep a record of quant...

Re: End User Declaration

I tried to order hydrogen peroxide and was told I needed to fill in an EUD including a copy of my driver's license. I cancelled that order as there was no way I was comfortable with providing my license details.

Re: Colorimeter

Thank you. Your data logger idea led me to Vernier Go Direct and they have a colorimeter that appears to do everything that will be required so we are going with that.

Our chemistry teacher wants to purchase colorimeters and was wondering if there were any tips/suggestions from other schools who use them?

Answered my own question!! No distributor in Australia and has to be ordered from America. Amazing what you can find out if you actually go to their website :-)

Testing Water Hardness

Had to make a standard soap solution and used a recipe that dissolves, via boiling, soap flakes in metho. However, the solution keeps solidifying extremely quickly - so much so, the Year 12 class struggled to use it. Does anyone have a different recipe or ideas?

Re: Standard soap solution

Found the recipe for making a standard soap solution via the above link but was wondering how others dissolved the soap flakes in the metho. Does it actually need boiling?

Wireless Data Loggers

We are looking at purchasing data loggers and accessories that can be used directly with an ipad or computer, cutting out the data logger "box". Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
