Standard soap solution

Hi All
Has anyone out there come across a prac. using standard soap solution??? I think the experiment is: [*]Testing Chloride in Water Samples.[*]If you have- how is it made up???

If the teacher can't tell you how to make it up then whatever you do can't be wrong! So just make it up yourself and it will probably be OK. As the teachers have told me in the past, we only teach bucket chemistry. When you do have to be acurate, they will have the instructions, you can bet.

As far as I know standard soap solution test is used for testing water hardness if this is what you need info can be found on this website

Found the recipe for making a standard soap solution via the above link but was wondering how others dissolved the soap flakes in the metho. Does it actually need boiling?
