Hooke's springs-help needed

Post by ri »

Hi All,
could colleagues let me know what their school uses for Year 11/12 physics experiments in the way of Hooke's-type springs??
Our springs are either too hard (ie they don't extend) or way too soft.
We need a supplier of a spring that will be able to be used in the context of the equation: F=kx where
F=force (approx 500grams)
k=spring constant, and
x=spring extension ( approx. 50cms)
hoping someone can help here,
Cheers,
~Robyn

Don't have a catalogue here in front of me, but I'm pretty sure we bought a set of "Hooke's Law Springs" from Haines.

Complete kit, Cat No HL001
I have an old catalogue, and the price is $59.00. You may pay a little more than that now.
Hope this helps

Thanks to all replies.
I have emailed both Haines and Serrata asking for more details on their springs and am awaiting replies.
