Has anyone made a Reduction Tube for the reduction of Copper(II) oxide with Methane gas?
Apparently, it requires heating a stoppered boiling tube over a bunsen flame until the expanding air bursts a hole through the side!
I've done some glasswork before, but I'm nervous to try this.
Better yet, may I buy one premade from a supplier. I can't seem to find a catalogue listing for "Reduction Tube", but perhaps there's another name to search?

Re: Reduction Tube
I have a stack of copper reduction tubes, never used in my life time, they are a glass tube, roughly 11mm in diameter, with a bubble (sort of) in the middle, about 30mm wide, 180mm long all up.
