Building Codes

Just had the maintenance guys in to replace a lightglobe in the prep lab, only to be informed that that particular light (closest to the chemstore) is a particular 'sealed' unit with ?% less mercury or something. Does anyone know if there is something in the building codes about anything within a certain radius of the chemstore meeting particular codes? Or know where I'd be able to find such a thing if it exists?

One of our maintenance guys is more than happy to replace it with a regular unit, but the other is telling us it's basically brand new (it's 10-15 years old :cheesy:) and must be there for a reason. The place they were originally purchased from no longer stocks these globes because they're all LED now

Any advice or knowledge you'd like to pass on would be greatly appreciated!

Try looking on Science Assist, there is some information about setting up school labs. If you're a member, you can post a question.
My thinking is that LED lights run cool with little power draw so may not be much of a problem.
