Oh yeah , they are 4 1/4" long and the square end is exactly 1/2" which would suggest they are pre 1975 ish

Nah ... sorry Labby ... I did ‘t take a clear photo of the round bit . The round shaft is solid . The hole in the square end only goes down as far as the length of the square section .

Its possible they were a fancy taper holder or something but the holes are not full of wax although there are traces of wax all over them . Maybe them being in the drawer with the tapers is a ferfy or maybe its related

Well here's another .
Found a few of these burners under the prep room and in with them was a long copper tube slightly flared at one end and with a bulbous bottom.
There is a small spigot brazed to it . It is sealed .....IE there is not a hole through it into the copper pipe. Perhaps its a place to pick it up with tongs/pliers when its hot :whistling2:

The burner has an adjustable holder at each end .

Open Coppr tube end.jpg
Anyway , got it burning . Quite a good flame actually
Cracking heat.jpg
So any Ideas on this one . [-o<
It does make a nice green flame when the copper oxides start burning off but its a bit elaborate just for that .I'm thinking maybe its heated up and then picked up by the spigot and something is poured into it ....but can't think what or why .

EDIT: OK scrap that . I just found another copper thing in the storeroom and it is obvious that it has not been used on a flame . Also on this one , the spigot Does go right through to the copper tube . Dooh , I think the one I found under the Prep room was just fully corroded

So I think I have two completely different apparatus , A long burner and a copper tube like a tall skinny version of a Pneumatic trough

It might be a Ruben's tube.
Gas goes in one end, you cover the open end with a balloon membrane and play music (as in a radio or mobile phone) against the membrane. When you light it the flames jump to the beat of the bass notes.
