Hi All,

Omega scientific, Chemical label maker 5
Does anyone use this program and are able to comment on it as a possible alternative to Chemwatch?

I use it. It is not perfect and doesn't have the label in two boxes, but the information necessary is there for small bottles, and you can edit it to suit your wants.

Loopy, are you still relatively happy with the product? Has it been improved and updated to be GHS compliant? It looks like a good deal at $500 once off, including all future updates.

Sorry may be a dumb question, but why are you moving away from chemwatch labels?

Also there are GHS labels on riskassess.com.au. which are pretty good.
Cheers

More to the point - why would you start using Chemwatch labels? I don't like them at all! Riskassess way better.

Just signed up for risk assess, gives me the GHS compliant labels and has saved me a world of pain. It is a bit time consuming to generate all the pracs if the teacher hasn't had time to do it and I don't have time to do all the pracs just yet, but just the labels alone makes it a fantastic time saver. No more Chemwatch struggles.

I've been really happy with the label function. The other thing is there is no dispute over when the prac was ordered!
In terms of doing the risk assessment, that is not our job - it is the responsibility of the teacher supervising the prac, we only need to worry about the risk associated with our tasks, which is completed in the Lab Tech box. PM me if you have questions.
