We are thinking of buying about two Non Contact infra red thermometers, just wondering if any one has these, which brand do you have? Where did you purchase them from? :clap3:

Ours came in the STELR kits - teacher's box - from 3 years ago.

We bought this one from Haines this year:

It hasn't had much use so far but seems fine as a novelty. Teachers have expressed interest in using it for solar ovens later in the year. As far as I know it works as advertised.

We use them occasionally. When they are doing changes in heat using plastic bottles, student research projects (which surfaces get hotter quicker)and Chemistry uses them for temperature changes in chemical reactions instead of thermometers sometimes. They get used about 6-8 times a year.

We also use ours for Biology/HPE. Get the little treasures to run around, and then take their temperatures in their motuhs with clinical thermometers, and off their foreheads with the non-contact thermometer and show them how sweating cools you down, since their sweaty little foreheads will be cooler than outside temp.

Well.....at least it works up here where it is still 31 degrees. :D

Also good for Leslie cubes - showing the differences in radiated heat from different surfaces.
