water purifier

Hello All
What kind of water purifier do most of you have? We have a reverse osmosis system and when I came it had not been serviced (cartridges changed). It will cost over $600 to have serviced - consumables and travel. My previous schools have had a distilled system - water is heated/boiled in a stainless steel container and condensate is cooled and collected. This system is $530 and although a little slow, seems to work well but uses a lot of cooling water - complaints from teachers who want to try and collect the cooling water and put it on the garden.
thank you for your thoughts
Adrianna

Parts of NSW can not have a distilled system, due to the fact it uses too much water, and the water board put a ban on that. We buy our distilled water and have done since the ban arrived. Perhaps you need to check with your local council, that you can still distill your water.

We used to by our water in - cost $20 for 20 litres and delivered to the door.
We now have purchased a Deminiser which cost less than $100 .. if you want details PM me.

I used to distill using the old condensing system. We are rarely short of water here, but I used to feel so guilty flushing all that water down the sink for a very small yield of distilled water. (and yes, through the dry times I used to bucket as much as I could onto the trees outside) We now have a Vertex filter fitted to a tap in the prep room. It is not reverse osmosis but have had no complaints. Our water is pretty good straight from the tap and close to pH7 even before filtering, so probably not necessary to even filter it, but I do. It is instant and there is no waste. :clap3: :clap3:
