Hi
Can anyone remember how Prof Bunsen did that last experiment outside (at ASET in Sydney) where he blew the lid off a coffee can with a loud bang? I just tried to do how I thought it went but it was spectacularly unsuccessful - just like most of my end of year suggestions have been so far!

I didn't notice the experiment on his website - but I emailed him and he very kindly sent me a copy. Just have to find the dusting sugar now- it wasn't in our local supermarket.

Used to use Lycopodium powder (expensive), plain flour works ok.

a few years ago, i had a teacher explode custard. ifrom memory,
the theroy was the same.
haven't tried it since.
