pasteurs exp with cheese slices

Post by louie »

Hi Everyone ! I'm going through my bio book looking at what did and didn't work this year. If anyine knows the prac I'm refering to it's 7.4 pasteurs classic experiment in Heineman Biology Activity Manual. Well nothing much grew on any of the pieces of cheese. Any ideas or better alternatives would be appreciated :-) Sue

Hey Sue
For this I make2 conical flasks / group
1 with air trap delivery tube & 1 with Straight vent tube
half fill both with chicken broth fron supermarket sit both on hotplate and boil, within a week the vented one grows fur, while the air trap remains free of bacteria

Hi Sue..
:-) I set up the same apparatus as Graeme. I buy a chicken neck from supermarket, and boil up a broth brew. Has worked well for us.
