what's the opposite of whinge?

Post by RosalieM »

Well, after my rant yesterday, I had a lovely (and timely) surprise in my pigeon hole today.

Yesterday was a dress up day for year 12. They came as childhood characters. One of the teachers came as Dr Who. Let me explain I know NOTHING about Dr Who. Anyway, someone made a comment that he would look more convincing if he had a sonic screwdriver. So I made one for him. I found a picture of sonic the hedgehog, printed it out and coloured it in (we don't have a colour printer) and sticky taped it to a screwdriver from the lab. He thought it was great!!

This morning after my 'encounter' with HT (mentioned in another thread), I was ready to go buy a block of chocolate from the shop down the road at morning tea. I went past my pigeon hole and there was a block with a note of thanks for the sonic screwdriver, and how much he appreciated my effort and that there were numerous comments on the cleverness of the 'play on words'. Wow!! I totally wasn't expecting that! Anyway, it made my day!! What a shame he isn't a science teacher...

Saved me a trip to the shops, too :)

thats awesome Rosalie!!!

We used to have brickbats and boquets as a way of giving praise and whinging - maybe we should do that.

My HT pulled a good one today - it was science's turn for morning tea, and he helped (ok he did most of it) cutting the cakes and setting up! usually it is all me - but it worked well i am not stressed and hot and sweaty!

OK so maybe I exagerated... I do know some things:

there are 'new' and 'old' dr whos
he has a tardis (??) (and I only know that because a friend of mine has the sound as a ringtone)
and as of yesterday i know there is a sonic screwdriver somehow connected.

But that's it!!

I had a lovely surprise the other day when one of the teachers left me a couple of bunches of tulips :D as a thank you for cleaning up the big mess of glassware she and her darlings made after attempting to make Oobleck! Actually all I did was pick it all up, give it a quick rinse and bung it in the dishwasher, no big deal, but she was very happy! It is nice to be appreciated, generally I get a pretty good deal from the teachers here :D
