Yesterday was a dress up day for year 12. They came as childhood characters. One of the teachers came as Dr Who. Let me explain I know NOTHING about Dr Who. Anyway, someone made a comment that he would look more convincing if he had a sonic screwdriver. So I made one for him. I found a picture of sonic the hedgehog, printed it out and coloured it in (we don't have a colour printer) and sticky taped it to a screwdriver from the lab. He thought it was great!!
This morning after my 'encounter' with HT (mentioned in another thread), I was ready to go buy a block of chocolate from the shop down the road at morning tea. I went past my pigeon hole and there was a block with a note of thanks for the sonic screwdriver, and how much he appreciated my effort and that there were numerous comments on the cleverness of the 'play on words'. Wow!! I totally wasn't expecting that! Anyway, it made my day!! What a shame he isn't a science teacher...
Saved me a trip to the shops, too
as a thank you for cleaning up the big mess of glassware she and her darlings made after attempting to make Oobleck! Actually all I did was pick it all up, give it a quick rinse and bung it in the dishwasher, no big deal, but she was very happy! It is nice to be appreciated, generally I get a pretty good deal from the teachers here
