Hi
Does anyone remember , from St Mary's conference last year, how to make the model lungs using, I think, a cup and a balloon? It was the kind of thing that a whole class could make, rather than the belljar lung model that you use as a demonstration.
Thanks
Tina

You will need a large balloon, a smaller one, plastic cup, and straw.
Make the hole in the plastic cup in the center on the bottom, Think they surggested to do that before class, as some students will have trouble.
Put the straw through the hole.
Attach a smaller balloon to the straw end, which will be inside the plastic cup.
Cut the end of the larger balloon open, and secure it over the top end of the plastic cup.
Test it see if working by pulling the larger balloon down, and the smaller lung balloon should inflate.

We must be all up to doing the same.
I searched last week for my St marys red booklet and found it so that we could make this also. If you need a copy just give email address and ill email you a copy.

i Kimmy,
I'd love a copy of the lung model. After 13 years here I still haven't managed to get to the St Marys Conference - often clashes with our school formal and I'm one of the organisers. Thanks so much

Thanks for that! Some very useful things there. The kids will love making that lung model. Have put all the info in my folder which I keep for my replacement when I'm on leave later in the year.
