Hydrochloric acid

we have 10m 32% of HCL. I have never had to make up 0.05m very weak. Can some kind soul, please tell me the amount of Conc HCL I need to make up 200ml of 0.05m.

Hi Pommy,

Using the formula; M1 x V1 = M2 x V2 where M= is concentration and V= volume (mL)

10M x V1 = 0.05M x 200 > V1 = (0.05 x 200)/ 10M > V1 = 1mL

So you need 1mL of your 10M HCl in 200mL of H2O to make your 0.05M solution!

I would Dilute to 1M Eirst 10 to 1 then dilute to 0.05 20 to 1 always adding acid to water never add water to acid it can boil and splash you

I had a request last week for 25mLs of 0.001M of HCl, NaOH and acetic acid, hardly seemed worth the effort.
