The liquid in some of our specimen jars has evaporated by half. Do I need to purchase a pre-made solution or can I use something off the shelf?

Hi Dinks,

I use a solution called phenoxytol, which comprises of 10mL
2-phenoxyethanol, 50mL glycerin with 940mL distilled water.
It gives a nice glossy look to the specimens as well as being
non-flammable. Hope this helps.

Hi Dinks,

Take a look at the forum under the heading General and the post called Preserved Biological Specimens. But all in all they are similar to what Juliem and Julia are suggesting.

All the best.
