starch
I am using up old starch, before purchasing some more. I would like to know what Starch people use, for the best results. The starch I am using up does not have a label any more, and its so cloudy, not clear like before. Yes I make a paste, then add boiling water.

I believe I read a post a week or so ago about boiling rice and using the water from that as your starch solution. Makes sense to me!

Re: starch
Mind you, rice is fast becoming luxury food isn't it. It's at a premium up here, to the point where some of our Asian restaurants are having their trading affected by a lack of bulk rice!

Re: starch
We have always used potato starch with never a problem. I have never had to buy it though, as there has always been plenty in stock.

Re: starch
Here we use cornflour which was bought in a bulk 25kg bag, no one has complained. I usually make it as a boiled solution for food testing, osmosis etc.
