Copper (11) Carbonate
Copper (11) Carbonate
Dear All - Yr. 11 Chemistry will be decompsosing a carbonate using Copper (11) carbonate forming Copper (11) oxide and Carbon dioxide. The Copper carbonate I have on the shelf is CuCO3-Cu(OH)2 I also have "Malachite green (Oxalate)" I believe this to be Copper (11) carbonate (CuCO3) Is this correct? I have searched Chemwatch but it is all a little vague. Help please! Thanks in advance. Judy.
Re: Copper (11) Carbonate
Hi Judygee and All,
Yes this is the Copper Carbonate you are after. The Copper (II) Carbonate is really the Copper/Copper Ohydroxide of the Carbonate (If you know what I mean) its just a powdered complex of both the Hydroxide and Carbonate of the copper Ion mixed.
But for argument sake we shall call it Copper(II) Carbonate.
I hope this helps and that I did not confuse you too much.
Cheers,
Robb.....
