hand held pH meters

Post by dolphinscales »

Sorry guys this time i need help with pH meters - the hand held kind - any suggestions?
Make /Models??
What do you like about them?
What dont you like about them?
Our kids are taking them out into the field so they need to be portable and affordable.

I have worked with Oakton ones before and found them rather good. Any ideas on a supplier on these ? doy ou use them? what do you think of them?

thanks in advance : :wink2:

Hi Annette,
we use a Waterproof pHScan 2 Tester from Eutech Instruments. They are a hand held, pocket sized, very easy to use piece of apparatus that many suppliers carry. (Serrata, Lab Supply, etc) Ours are from a local water testing supply lab (Vendart P/L). We could not be happier with them. They run on a bubble type battery that lasts approx 2 years or so.
We bought in pH buffers in pH 4, 7 & 10 to calibrate them periodically.
Good Luck in your search,
~Robyn

There was some discussion on this towards the end of last year. If you do a search for ph meters and scroll down about 5 posts you will find it. Click on the topic line and it will take you to the discussion.

sometimes it depends what you put in the search thing. If you type in 'reliable ph meter' you will get to the thread I was talking about. Happy searching :)
