Re: Open Day Ideas
I was wondering if someone could send me a copy of this booklet as well. I am running out of ideas at this stage. We have Grade 5's coming week 4 each term plus this year not just Grade 6 Orientation day but two grade 6 transition days before that. These all involve Science and people ask me to come up with ideas.

science week ideas
SCIENCE WEEK:- What are you all doing? I have a teacher who wants to do BIG things and I am trying to say yes to most of her ideas whilst toning them all down to basic safety. She wants to throw sodium into a bucket for example, I said NO! She wants to do elephants toothpaste so it explodes way up into the air, I said OK BUT not too big. She is keen to get liquid nitrogen too.
We will do a science themed morning tea do you have any ideas to share? For food and any ideas for amazing demos?

Gorman.Mary.T@edumail.vic.gov.au We are already doing things like blue bottle, traffic light, elephants toothpaste, drops of water on a coin, paper planes and/or rockets, transpiration (colouring flowers), refractive index (disappearing glass) etc.

Big thank you to Merilyn for sending me this. Love the toothpick star. Some new ideas and reminding me of some of the oldies.

Re: Open Day Ideas
Yes, I was looking at the toothpick stars for next week. We need to substitute one of the pracs that didn't work well and I saw that one. Given that Science Week seems to have crept up on us this year, I'm looking for a simple alternative. I'm hoping the teachers think it is okay! Now to try to convince them to ditch the honeycomb prac - yuk!
