try looking for sulphuric acid....omg...during the transfer of my inventory from Chemgold 3 to Gold ffx, 4 chemicals have disappeared from the inventory, volumes have changed from 0.4 kg to 0.3999998 kg for no apparent reason. Have voiced this to chemwatch, escalate to chemist/developer/someone with common sense that can program....

I gave up using D-Gen after a few goes, and following the e-learny thingo. Just print page of the generic SDS containing the GHS phrases and pix, cut out and stick on container. 8-)

I think it likes to default to "sulphuric acid".

I just looked it up under the 'f' and there was certainly plenty of options. I don't know what molarity was required but I couldn't see a problem. It also included 'ph' options too.

Thanks Rae. I searched for sulphuric acid in the manifest section with no results.
http://dictionary.cambridge.org/diction ... huric-acid
It must have been added as the American spelling some years back and I assumed it would spell auto correct when UI is English and base is Australia. I'll change it manually in case other users are searching for it.

Chemwatch recommend Google Chrome and generating reports through the Materials section of the program and not the Manifest.

NOn-government schools have to pay to gain access to the new CSIS - our Diocesan offices won't pay for it.. so we are still using the old one.

Did you mean CSIS or ChemWatch, Sunray? What diocese are you in? I'm at a catholic school and I haven't heard anything about a new CSIS.......and I also thoroughly dislike ChemWatch!!!!!

The CSIS - Chemical Safety in Schools has been updated. The DEC [State ] schools have access to it. Any other school has to pay to have access.
I am in a Catholic school in Maitland/Newcastle Diocese and the CSO [Catholic Schools Office] in this Dioceses will not pay. So all Catholic schools here are still using the old, outdated version.
Every school HAS to follow all the instruction in that policy and yet our governing bodies will not pay the money!
So - you do the best you can with what you have.

Chemwatch - is another thing altogether. It is a private company - International one - which mainly deals with industry, but allow school access for a small fee. Most schools use it for all their labeling and documents - but as not all schools will pay to have access, I have no idea how they mange.
When CW [Chemwatch] goes well it is wonderful - WHEN is the operative word..

Another issue with Chemwatch if anyone has been printing SDSs lately. I've found a lot of the Chemwatch SDSs show a substance as Hazardous. However, when you look at the manufacturer's SDS it is not classed as a hazard. I was curious that Ajax Spray & Wipe was classed as Hazardous, but just looked at Colgate's SDS and it is not hazardous.

I know it's good to err on the side of caution but what are they basing the decision on?

Just had a look at the Chemwatch SDS for Sodium Chloride, yep, listed as hazardous. So went to the Chemsupply website, had a look at their's, and not surprisingly its not hazardous.
I'm gradually changing all our SDSs to the manufacturer's version. Chemwatch SDSs aren't always correct.

The website for the CSIS is free to D of E schools or old DEC schools, but the website is the same as the Hardcopy of the CSIS. Although some one did say to me, just goggle the CSIS and they got on.
