Corks

Post by J »

Having trouble sourcing old fashioned cork stoppers. I've always had a big stash of them on hand, but lately we've been using them and can't find where to buy more.
Any ideas?

i had the same problem 3 years ago. In the end we approached a winery and purchased some from them. unfortunately they are all the one size but fine for what we use them for.

I purchase my corks from brewing shop. There not overly expensive and even diameter at both ends. If not, try craft/arts store, sometime they stock those weird items.

One of the regular science suppliers in Sydney have corks of various sizes. I will PM you with the name.

Thank you, everybody, for your replies. I will probably try the brewing shops as they seem to be the cheapest. And some even have the tapered corks, which is what I am after.

That sounds like a great plan, Debbie, and I may well do that anyway. Unfortunately the corks will not be the ones I want, but what the heck?

Try Omega Scientific for corks. There is an online catalogue and you will find what you need there. But the party idea sounds like fun too.
