Potassium Permanganate disposal

Post by mikah »

After the Osmosis and Diffusion prac I have 5L of this to dispose of.
I have read the disposal section of the SDS and wondered if anyone could explain how they dispose of this?
I'm putting on the dunce-hat because it was as clear as mud :?

Thank you

Add sodium thiosulfate crystals leave for a few hours to allow MnO2 to form. Filter. MnO2 precipitate can go in the bin. Adjust the filtrate to between pH 4-9 and pour down the sink.
