Hi lab-woman,

Why don't you use Seratta, they are the company approved by DET procurement.

Thanks

I am happy to use Serrata. Do any of you go straight onto the smartbuy website to order or do you look at the catalogue "book" that we all have a copy of and then type up your order form and forward onto your front office?

Like I said "Smartbuy" doesnt seem to be very user friendly. I can't even find the serrata catalogue on there.

when i did it a few months ago, i filled out the 'order form'
the office told me to use the smart buy thing. I demonstrated that the catalogue numbers weren't in there, so i couldn't do it and i left it with them to sort out....
A little while later my order arrived..i guess they worked it out!
But yes, SMART BUY is an OXYMORON..

Until we get SAP (God knows what that is) most schools can not order through SMartbuy. So most of us order Serrata. We DEC schools can not order through any other company only Serrata, but if Serrata do not do it, or its cheaper then we can. Gee I do hope that makes sense????????????????? Smartbuy was set up before the Procurement came along, some school never did set up smartbuy, so they can not use it.

After a lot of trying to figure it out myself, I have finally found the Serrata Catalogue in Smartbuy.

I telephoned smartbuy and spoke to a wonderful man called Michael, who helped me through it slowly, step by step.

The phone no for anyone interested is: 1300 338 289.

Good Luck.

Lurra,
We are in the market for a new incubator too - how much did yours cost and what size/brand etc is yours? Most of the ones I have come across are way over our budget :(

I use Science Supply and Haines......Smartbuy are not very well stocked. If your HOD and SAM have aproblem using other supliers....the order is covered if you write at the bottom of your order...." ONLY KNOWN SUPPLIER".The auditors will pass the order.I only use Smartbuy for stationery......they are so expensive comapred to other suppliers

Hi all,
Sorry for the late reply, only just had time to go onto chemtalk.
I order almost all my science supplies through Serrata online. It is so easy. Once I have submitted the order, I print it out and take it to the finance lady who then puts into the Oasis system as a Serrata order. She doesn't have to type each item in individually. It works really well.
I hate Smartbuy (Dumbbuy) with a passion. It doesn't work, you can't order online and half of the things you want aren't on there anyway.
Good luck with ordering through Serrata online. www.chemtalk.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=451
Regards,
Carol

It seems smartbuy or what ever it is called, are having a second company to balance things up, one will not have any P&H costs, it will be very interesting to see who it is. We are due to know early May I believe.

Apparently if you order chemicals through Serrata, they get them from Science Supply Australia, which is why they take so long to come. I contacted Smartbuy and we can get them direct from Science Supply. They come a bit quicker but unfortunately both Serrata and Science Supply both charge freight
