Cold pack Prac

I have been asked to prepare a prac that uses amonuim nitrate that produces cold packs.
The only prob is that it is for year 8, and ammonium nitrate is not suitable t according to the CSIS for year 8s.
Has anyone done this prac, and can you recomend another chem to use that is safe for year 8?

I did not know we can still get ammonium nitrate. I tried Serrata and they told me,they cannot sell it anymore.
Has anyone else had this problem?

we have very little of it left....and it looks like we have had it since the school opened...
One of the chem teachers LOVES it LOL, they all have their favs!

Ammoniun nitrate is available from Q stores...office max whatever the heck it is called now...

one of our teachers likes to do that with senior chemistry, for endo and exothermic reactions.

All the teacher has to do is a RA in the front of the chemical part of CSIS
They fill out the form and the HT has to sing it then they can do it.
I have one for DCIP because year 10 use it and every time they order it I give them the RA and they sign the back and the HT also signs it and dates it.
