Cool variation on edible rocks

Post by smiley »

Hi Guys,

I was sent this Snicker Bar Geology prac and it's not bad. Yes, yes, I know all about peanuts in schools, but maybe try the almonds variety or something similar.

Basically it is a really good application of the difference between sedimentary & metamorphic rocks. All the ingredients of a Snickers Bar are in the metamorphosed rock, but way less recognizable than when they were in layers. And cooking/melting it in a microwave flattens out the nougat part, demonstrating the formation of Igneous rocks.

Best of all, it can be done inside a zip-lock, so way less clean-up than other edible rocks.
