Hi Chemtalkers,
I vaguely remember reading somewhere that someone poured phenolphthalein over the agar in the containers when putting it in the frig, but after doing a few searches, I can't seem to locate it! I have just made up some phenolphthalein agar and am wondering if it is worth pouring some over the top, but I don't want to go wasting it. The blocks won't be used till Friday.

Hi Rosalie,
That was me and I got it the tip from someone else!!
I actually did this because I had a problem keeping the colour in the gels. I poured the phenolphthalein over and left it over night on the bench covered and then pured off the excess in the morning!! It worked fabuously and I can now make THE best gel ever!!!
