Morning All,
We are looking at replacing retort stands, boss heads and clamps. I am looking for a reliable supplier that has good quality ie they wont break the second time you use them but don't cost a bomb. Any ideas??
Thanks Lorrae

Re: Retort Stands, Clamps and Boss Heads
Hi Lorrae
I recently bought from Serrata they were the blue cork lined ones but they aren't as strong as we'd like so I've just order a new batch of metal ones from Science supply at $10.95 each. Hope they work. Frustrating when they break after very little use.

Re: Retort Stands, Clamps and Boss Heads
Hi Lorrae,
I've just bought new clamps and retort stands from Met-App in Victoria.
Like Krysia, we bought the blue, cork-lined ones a couple of years ago and at least half have broken - all in the same place, so a design flaw there I think. The old Met-App clamps, bossheads and retorts that have been in the College since the year dot are still going strong though.
I bought their budget retorts (code 1741-E) and clamps (code 1320-C) @ $20.45 and $13.00 (inc GST) respectively and am very pleased with them.
I realise the price is outside many schools' budget, but a few a year will soon add up and hopefully not require replacing for many years.

Re: Retort Stands, Clamps and Boss Heads
I did the same as Labbie with our retort stands, I bought 3 different colours of spray paint -"Galmet metal protection hammered metal finish".
They look like new, different colour for each Lab (only 3 Labs here) - still looking great after 3 years.
I even did our old bunsens.
