carbon snake disposal

Post by emma.hunt »

Hi sorry to post, I tried looking for a similar post and I couldn't find one,

A teacher has made a carbon snake with concentrated sulphuric acid and sugar.

How do I dispose of this??

Thank you :-)

Hi Emma,

To dispose of the snake, I rinse well to remove any unused sulfuric acid, wrap in newspaper and put it into the bin.

I leave it in the fume cupboard (with the fan running) overnight before handling it. But, otherwise, yes, rinsing and wrapping in newspaper sounds good.

I didn't get to it yesterday so it sat in the fume cupboard overnight thankfully!
Thanks Merilyn

Lots of water and chuck in the paddock/compost! It breaks down to nothing harmful. If you have no paddock try the above suggestions.
