Just had a look at the website. To me, it looks like DEC have created a 'modern' looking website, and transferred the 'old' printed information in the CSIS Manual to the website. It looks like the information hasn't been updated at all, e.g. I looked at the labeling section, which we all know has changed - no mention of GHS system, no mention of signal words DANGER, WARNING it still highlights all the old words.

Also, the website mentions label sizes for chemicals purchased from Q Stores (it has been years since Q Stores has been around). Laughable really!!

Just be careful - when they transferred the info from the old server to the new one some of it got "scrambled" for want of a better word.

For example - when I looked up sodium last week, the info for sodium thiocyanate came up instead. It has now been corrected, but there are more glitches we need to be on the lookout for. If you notice any, please report them so they can be corrected asap.

Hi
I'm in a private school. Could you please tell me how I can get new version of CSIS? If there is a website can I access to that website as a lab tech in private school?
Thanks

Non DEC schools do not have access to the electronic version of CSIS at this stage. Be cautious using the printed version of CSIS, produced in about 1999, as some parts of it are out of date.

That's about it for those in the private system, unless someone else has something. Still referring back to the old Manual CSIS and cross checking

I think that would be the better option, Macca. CSIS, without updates, is unreliable. We subscribe to Riskassess, so I am referring to that as it keeps the year group usage and hazard rating up to date.
